CAN YOU NAME 3 FEMALE INVENTORS?
Not so easy, right? That’s probably because you don’t hear about them. And only 7% of US patents are held by women. At the current rate it will take 140 years to reach gender parity, so Microsoft decided to take action. On International Women’s Day we launched a web film to make sure girls knew that not everything is ‘man-made’ and that women in STEM have invented a lot of amazing things. Then to encourage girls to #MakeWhatsNext, Microsoft launched the Patent Program - an annual effort that provides young women with the knowledge and funding to get patents. The program aims to unleash the inventive power of women and inspire young girls everywhere to invent a better world.
